Dr Barnaby Taylor
Dr Barnaby Taylor is a creative force; his work spans various mediums, genres, and disciplines, showcasing his diverse talents and interests, from writing to making and teaching film. As an author, Barnaby Taylor has written various books, and his work in film is equally impressive. He is an experienced Film and Digital Media Lecturer.
As a Lecturer in Film Studies at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, he designed and delivered modules across the whole spectrum of the subject, both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Barnaby's contribution to teaching in the School of Drama, Film and Music would include modules on Hollywood, European and World cinema; questions of film style and other aesthetic concerns; horror films; advanced research methods; and Mexican wrestling movies.
Barnaby oversaw a team of academics and industry professionals delivering a suite of degree-level programmes in Film, Creative Media and Journalism, including Ireland's first Single Honours Level 8 Film degree. As well as teaching on the programme, he worked continuously to enhance the learner experience by establishing links with other institutions and audiovisual professionals as a Film, Creative Media and Journalism Programme Leader.
As a Film and Digital Media Lecturer at Dublin Business Film, Barnaby now significantly contributes to all relevant learning, teaching and research activities across the Schools of Arts, Business and Marketing. He has designed and delivered a collaborative content creation project exploring contemporary digital platforms and redefining existing knowledge paradigms. He has developed innovative approaches to learning and teaching, specialising in hybrid and remote engagement, and generated innovative approaches to the challenges created by COVID-19. Barnaby received a 2021 National Forum T&L Teaching Hero Award for excellence in developing and executing innovative online teaching and learning approaches.
