Do You Need an Office?
Do You Need an Office?
We are seeing a growing trend of people asking themselves the question, do you need an office?
If you were working in an office environment, the chances are that you are working from home right now.
Jobs that do not transition well to home working for lot's of reasons have seen many people laid off or reliant on much-needed government subsidies to help people through a very challenging environment.
For people whose line of work was already transitioning to home working, the move to full home working was possibly made easier.
However, for many people who were not home working and now find themselves working from home, this can be a very new situation.
For many years office rents have fluctuated, and the glass and concrete structures appear to keep getting bigger and then are filled with more humans at desks with screens.
If you are a large corporation and you have suddenly found the vast majority of your global workforce working away, it does make you consider why so many people are commuting each day to travel in and out of an office facility.
While the current situations challenge some companies, others are doing okay, with several companies positively thriving. Interestingly, people see an increase in productivity too.
While there are pros and cons in every situation, the era of a new way of working may be here sooner than we think.
