Looking to Increase Your Creativity

4 simple steps

Looking to Increase Your Creativity?

If you want to up your creativity quota, follow these simple steps.

Be open, not closed

It sounds simple right? Wrong! Remaining open to new possible solutions takes a little effort. How do you plan on being more open and aware than you currently are? If you want to increase your creativity, you need to move past the current way of operating.

Changing  your expectations on outcomes, or people can often be an excellent first step. We can spend so much time trying to influence others to get our point of view across first, that we miss some new thoughts that can lead to greater creativity.

Permit yourself to open an idea factory

Just think about what a successful idea factory looks like in your imagination for a moment. Now imagine you are the owner of this highly productive idea manufacturing business. Sounds strange right?

Well, we want you to focus on idea generation, regardless of the type of idea. Ideas are churning out, minute after minute from the busy, productive, happy idea factory. Do not judge or try to do quality control to early in the process. Creativity can require our brains to output, let the ideas flow.

Have you ever used a mood board?

If you read that last heading and felt uneasy, unsure, or have already mentally decided not to, pause and consider the importance of 'inspiration' for a second. When did you last feel truly inspired? Setting up a simple mood board can be a significant step to creativity.

Change it up a little

Change your routine, commute, daily tasks, lunch, it doesn't matter which, but do different things to help jump-start the process. Take in new experiences, change it up a little, enjoy the process. Reduce the pressure of having to create on-demand. Take pleasure in being creative. Give it a short time, and see what happens!
