This is a special season of The Global Interview in association with Crafters of Ireland and the Irish American Business Network.
The IABN was founded on the cultural and historical contributions of Irish descendants throughout North America. Bernie has been sewing for the past thirty-two years and has learned a lot over those wonderful years. Bernie started off in a clothing factory where she learned how to make clothes from the start to the end, moved on then to a bridal department in the famous McElhinney's stores in the heart of Ballybofey, where she added bridal to her skills. She got married, had three beautiful children and then decided to open her own alterations shop in Ballybofey six years ago.

Fiona Concannon is an artist from Spiddal, Co. Galway. Fiona has studied Fine Art Painting in a variety of institutions, including Limerick School of Art and Design, GMIT, Crawford College of Art and Design, University of Ulster, and the NCAD. Colour has always been an integral part of Fiona's art practice, and it is the process of painting that captivates and inspires her. The building up layers of colour, creating a sense of depth, warmth and mystery. Fiona is currently working on a series of Original Watercolour Paintings and Limited Edition Prints, which capture the beauty of her surroundings in the West of Ireland. Fiona conveys a warm and familiar sense of place in her paintings.

Noel Quigley is 53 years old or young, whichever you prefer, who was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland. The part of Dublin he is from is known as the Liberties, which is one of the oldest parts of the city. Noel lives within a three-minute walk from the world-famous Guinness brewery and about 10 minutes walk away from Christchurch Cathedral; both of these places are very popular with tourists from all over the world.

Hello! I'm Serena, the creative artist behind Serendipity Art Eire. I originally came to Ireland to study voice and music, then I met the love of my life and found myself truly at home here in Cork. I've been here for fifteen years now, and I continue to be in love with the people, the culture, and the music and art! As a trained musician and choir conductor, I spend my days immersed in music. When Covid hit and the first lockdown was imposed, I found my primary form of self-expression, music, had been temporarily suspended by the events unfolding in the world.

Niamh Cooper is a writer, publisher, and, more importantly, a Mum. She grew up in a small German village near a small town, made semi-famous by a certain model called Heidi and a company that makes paper. The latter might have been the reason why Niamh has an inherent love for words, or maybe it is because she was raised bilingually (English and German) by an Irish mother and an American father. From the tender age of twelve, when she wasn't passing secret notes to her best friend in Latin class, she was known to give language lessons to classmates, neighbours, and, occasionally, her English teacher.

I was born and raised in the north of Germany in a very small village with lots of animals. I am a trained dental technician and have worked in the job for nearly eight years. The German Government reformed the health system, and all of a sudden, I was without a job. A friend of mine suggested coming to Ireland. I needed a new start, job-wise and life-wise, so I looked for a job, packed my stuff and moved to Ireland. The original plan was for a year, but I felt like I belonged here. Even when I met my husband again, we have known each other since we were sixteen; he had to move over for me as I didn't want to go back to Germany.
